Sons of American Legion
Squadron 143
The Sons of The American Legion (SAL), founded in 1932, honors veterans’ descendants by raising millions, volunteering, and supporting youth programs. If your parent or grandparent served in wartime, join this 3-million-strong Legion Family. SAL builds leaders, aids vets, and defends Americanism. Squadrons nationwide await—drop by the Post 143 office to shape history and ignite your legacy!

Auxiliary
In the spirit of “Service, Not Self,” the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security.

Legion Riders
Legion Riders unite motorcycling members of The American Legion family to serve veterans, support communities, and honor the fallen. We ride for charity, fund veterans’ causes and children’s programs, provide dignified escorts at funerals, join parades, promote motorcycle safety, and build camaraderie. Open to current Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons members who ride. Ride for veterans, families, and freedom.
Honor Guard
The sun dipped, shadows stretching over headstones. Post 143 Honor Guard lined up, bugle sounding. Tom, 20-year Army vet, watched—retired, but salutes stirred him.
“Join us?” Mike asked, gloving up. “Service is over,” Tom said. Mike nodded at the flag. “Not yet. We honor them right.”
Flag taut, rifles cracked, Taps rang. Purpose hit Tom. At the hall, Mike offered a pamphlet. “We need you.” Duty warmed Tom. Maybe service wasn’t done.
Quilts of Valor
The Quilts of Valor Foundation, founded in 2003, honors U.S. service members and veterans touched by war with handmade, comforting quilts. Volunteers craft these meaningful awards—over 400,000 — to express gratitude for their sacrifices. Joining this passionate community offers a chance to sew, connect, and heal through creativity. Guitars 4 Vets
Guitars for Vets (G4V) serves at-risk United States Veterans impacted by PTSD and other service-related trauma. Through our unique, 10-week structured guitar instruction program, we put the healing power of music in the hands of our nation’s heroes, helping to foster renewal, connection and community.
Youth Programs
American Legion Youth programs empower young leaders through initiatives like Boys State, Girls State, and Junior ROTC, fostering patriotism, education, and community service.
Legion Baseball
The Prairie Cardinals Baseball team, sponsored by American Legion Post 143 in Post Falls, Idaho, reflects teamwork and sportsmanship. Featuring players from Post Falls High School and beyond, the Cardinals field AA, A, and Short A teams. Post 143 supports athletes with a top-notch practice facility and select tournaments, helping them build character and represent our community.
Boys & Girls State
Picture a week where Post Falls High School juniors become lawmakers and leaders, crafting a government from scratch. At American Legion Boys State and ALA Girls State, hosted by Post 143, teens experience hands-on democracy in Boise and Nampa—electing officials, debating laws, and building bonds. Oratorical Contest
The American Legion Oratorical Contest, hosted by Post 143 in Post Falls, Idaho, invites high schoolers to tackle constitutional speeches. Since 1938, it’s built leaders with top-notch public speaking skills. Local winners earn scholarships ($500, $300, and $200) and a shot at over $200,000 nationally ($25,000 top prize). In January 2026, teens compete at Post 143, impressing judges and inspiring veterans. Apply now for the local contest!
Scout Post 143
Adventure awaits with American Legion Boy Scout Troop 143 in Post Falls, Idaho! Chartered by Post 143, this troop blends Scouting’s outdoor thrills—camping, hiking, leadership—with Legion values of service and honor. Since 1919, Scouts have grown into leaders here.
